Lol, this one tortures every foreign worker. Rule of thumb my Waseda OB taught me:
「ちょっと考えさせて」 + immediate eye-break = polite no
「ちょっと考えさせて」 + asking for follow-up date = real consideration
3 days is the safe wait window before sending a gentle nudge.
