Been thinking about this lately. There's usually one small moment when Japan stops feeling like a trip and starts feeling like home.
For me it was the first time I gave directions to a lost tourist — in Japanese — without panicking. Felt weirdly significant.
For some friends it never fully clicks, and that's okay too.
